Using sources and research

Tomorrow in class, we will look at the sources you found for homework, and begin discussing the best ways to integrate research into our work.  For this next paper, you will have to use sources from the reader as well as two outside pieces to help develop your work.  With that in mind, you will also have to properly cite your sources.

Here are some links that we will discuss in class:

Remember for Wednesday

Please remember that for Wednesday, you need to come to class knowing which reading you will critique.  You should know the piece well, and be ready to write about it, and discuss it.

If you're having trouble selecting one, please don't hesitate to contact me!

Pre-planning

Today in class, we discussed the various readings for this unit.  Based on what you heard--and what you read for class--which reading do you think you will critique for your paper?  In the comment section here, please state which reading you are leaning toward, and why.

Identifying why we choose to write on a subject helps us connect to it more deeply, and can positively affect the writing process.

This is due by 9pm tonight (Wednesday)--thanks!

Getting started back up...

Thanks again, everyone, for your understanding about this past week.  I am on the mend--if still a little rough--and look forward to starting back up on Monday.

Needless to say, we will hit the ground running on Monday to make up for lost time.  Please come with your Course Reader and Writer's Reference--we will cover a handful of topics.  Also, be ready for a group activity, which will combine content (learning about the topics of this unit) and an opportunity to get to know each other all over again.

Thanks again!
